Aiden still weighs 3 lbs 14 oz. Looks well but still having heart rate drops.
Bottle feeds have been cut back to every 3rd feed. The every other feed schedule was still making him too tired and he wasn't doing as well as docs hoped. The hope is that every 3rd feed on the bottle will get Aiden stirred up a bit and he'll start acting like he wants it. He's at 34ml's (just over an ounce).
Spoke with nurse practitioner and doc on duty. Nurse practitioner stated he could come home by Christmas/New Years if he meets expectations. We're confident he will.
Doc stated that the geneticist is probably the best he's run across. Said she has her act together and runs a fantastic operation. Knowledgeable and resourceful, well connected.
Doc confirmed the chromosome 6 duplication is very, very rare. Confirmed the specific chromosome issue Aiden has is even more rare and wasn't aware of another case quite like it. All cases are different and may have similarities but Aiden's case is quite unique.
Doc stated he's thinking mom and dad may have simply been chosen for this. Thinks Aiden may be a pioneer of sorts, paving the way for future events and leaving his footprint for the benefit of others.
We continue to have great doctors and nurses caring for Aiden. They've been very accomodating to us as well. We appreciate all of them!
As always, remember all the other families who are struggling and experiencing their own unique challenges. They remain in our thoughts and prayers.
