Aiden's up to 1802 grams...4 lbs!!!! This is an important threshold for going home.
Looks fantastic!
Aiden had a gift! A kind mother of twins in the NICU left a knitted hat that she must have made herself. It's Christmasy - Christmas colors, perfect fit so it doesn't slide off easily, does the trick, and he looks jolly with it on! Thank you! Very kind gesture!
Dad arrived in time for Aiden's 8pm evaluation. Dad took temp and changed a poopy diaper. Then Aiden had a wet fart and pooped again. Dad changed poopy diaper #2. Nurse took measurements and was impressed. His belly is growing!
Dad bottle fed Aiden with a normal flow nipple. Slow flows seem to make him tired so we tried a normal flow. Took 37ml's in record time. 20 minutes! Barely a drop left in the bottle. Nurse couldn't believe it. I think she suspects I dumped some to make his performance look good. For the record, I'm not sayin'! But I will say that Aiden did it on his own. I simply encouraged him and praised him. I think I actually saw him blush.
Aiden decided mid-feed that it was time to poop. Mom's milk must be potent. Works fast! Dad changed Aiden's poopy diaper a 3rd time. This time Aiden decided to pee during the change. Missed Dad but got the blanket. Dad changed all his crib blankets, prepped the rolled blankets and formed his pillow without any help. Nurse conveniently waited until Dad was done before she came in and offered help. I was already done and she had been watching from her desk outside the window. She complimented me on the quality and quantity of my work. Impressed with the quick time as well. All this while handling Aiden. I've still got it!!!! Who's yo Daddy?
Dad read 3 books to Aiden. Two were from cousin Kelly. Showed him each page. Made silly sounds. Dad's a goober and now the NICU knows it. Showed Aiden the hair from his 1st hair cut, told him about his family, his pets, and made a play date to crawl after the Hooter's girls on May 18th. We agreed to a race but he insisted on winning. Claims it's for my own good. Said he's chasin' the blond! It'll be his 6 month birthday. I think he's earned it by then. Dad put Aiden back in his fresh crib so he could get some rest.
Dad worked on some college papers while watching Aiden rest. Mom is home working on work-related homework that is due tonight. She will be anxious to see him tomorrow.
