12/01/09 - More Progress

Aiden weighed in at 3 lbs 8.2 oz tonight. That's a 2.2 oz gain!

Had a good day and got lots of rest. Opening his eyes more and more when awake.

Nurses started him on breastmilk tonight. His dose was bumped to 4ml and he sucked it down pretty well. It's possible to see a 1ml increase each day if he continues to feed and absorb well. Docs are watching his feeding patterns closely. Regular xrays will be done to monitor possible fluid buildup but so far so good.

His nurses seem to enjoy him. He's had a few uneventful days and they like that. Some of the nurse practitioners and RN's that have cared for Aiden have gone out of their way to stop in and check on him (and us). We can't say enough about the staff and quality of care. So many great people.

Mom changed his diaper tonight and took his temp. Aiden thought she was a target and tried to pee on her. Missed by........................this much! He looked so proud of himself. Dad was rootin' for him.

We're very grateful for the opportunity to share his story and progress. We pray for the other NICU babies and their families. Hope you do, too.

We'll take all the little successes we can get. Today was one for the Jones'!

Will post new pics/video tomorrow. We're tired...emotionally, physically, you name it. Just trying to stay strong and be productive at work. To say we're distracted is an understatement.

  1. WOW!!! It's great that he's on the GOOD STUFF!!

Nat did the same trick after he was born!! Unfortunately, he got me. He was VERY proud of himself.

We're still praying for Aiden and the other NICU babies/families as well.

    Love,

    Aunt Louise
