Another day in the life of Aiden

Today Aiden had a visit with the pediatric pulmonologist. Mom thought he was going to get the RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) shot. Mom thought wrong. Today was a clinical visit to convince the insurance company that Aiden needs the shot.

The pulmonologist got the low down on Aiden's condition. Her concern is with how much spitting up he is doing. Many times premature babies have an immature lower esophageal sphincter which is located at the bottom of the esophagus and at the top of the stomach. This causes all the spit up.

Since Aiden tends to not eat like he should, she thinks that the reflux may have something to do with it. All the acid could possibly be irritating his esophagus. Since that is the case, Aiden is joining his grandparents and taking medication for acid reflux. He just didn't want to be left out :) Doc also suggested to get a wedge to keep him at an incline for a most of the time.

So in 2 weeks he will get to go back for the RSV.

  1. Just wait...the girls rsv visits are $8000+ a piece that is charged to insurance...our portion ends up being a little over $400 for each of them! Our money tree needs to start producing with they way we are having to spend! He should qualify, the girls never needed a visit like that, from visit 1 they got shots. They also prescribed Lilah's reflux meds (zantac) and it works great for her. Who is your pulmanologist? Ours is Dr. Sabagol, probably different than yours since our hospital was Winnie.
