12/16/09 - Playin' the slots

Aiden did great for Mom today. Took 40ml's and it's his best feed to date. Made Mom happy. Best he's done for her so far.

4 weeks old tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aiden was awake when I got here tonight. Looked like he was just waking up. Ugly faces. Squirming. Looked like me in the mornings but he moves faster. My cat-like reflexes are shot.
He was very active. Kicking. Looking for targets. Pushing on his crib. Think he was showing off.

Did a diaper change. Interesting. Wiped his butt, placed the clean diaper, and....... sssppplllllllppppppttttttt! More baby poop. Cleaned him up. Wiped his butt. And....... sssppplllllllllpppppptttttt! More baby poop. Noticed he kept moving his left arm up and down like a tomohawk chop. Reminded me of the pull lever on a slot machine. And he won!
Yellow poop gold! We had a pooper! And another pooper! Third time was the charm. (Held his arm down).

Aiden weighed 4 lbs 7.2 oz tonight after the diaper changes. A 2 oz. gain. Good progress.

Fed him 40 ml's tonight. Took 35ml's and was a little sloppy. Then ssspppllllllllpppppptttttt! More yellow gold. WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE HOLD HIS ARMS DOWN?

Seemed tired so didn't force him to finish his bottle. Big burp. Wrapped him up. Put him in his crib. And sucky, sucky, sucky. Tearing his passy up. Go figure.

Mom liked his day nurse and Dad liked his night nurse. Night nurse was seasoned and reminded me of my Grandma Jones, only 6 inches taller. Shared her personality, too. Seemed very loving, nurturing, and the type that would flick you the bird in a heartbeat. For no reason at all. Just like my Grandma (Love you Grandma!) Whole crew tonight was socializing and having a good time. Good energy. Hope Aiden takes notes.

A friend just had a baby weighing 4 lbs 15 oz. Full term, too! We wish her, her new son Micah?, and her family the best. Congratulations!

Aiden is doing very well today. Hard to stay level-minded and not get excited. Keep thinking he's coming home by Christmas (next week). I'm going to say he is. My mind is made up. Aiden will be home for Christmas. I know I saw car seats in the hallway for a reason. Must be for him.

Please don't stop praying for Aiden. He has a lot of unknowns ahead. We embrace every day we have him (and our other 2). A family friend has a grandson that could use some extra prayer as well. Please keep Baby Rylan in your prayers.

I want everyone to know how wonderful Brandon and Mikayla have been. They have been very supportive, understanding, tolerant, and strong. We love them so much. Thanks kids!

As for Mom, well, she's had some difficult moments and tough days (and me too!). But everyone should know how strong and confident she's been. Despite any concerns and fears we've shared, she's been amazing. She's held to her faith. Beat some walls. Held to her faith. Cursed the dogs. Beat me up a little. And kept her faith. Me and the dogs share the porch for our own good. We enjoy the cold nights with clear skies and bright stars. Mom is our Cinderella wearing size 9 Sh-t kickers.

Okay, seriously, she truly has been amazing. Couldn't love her any more and couldn't be more proud. Couldn't have asked her to be any stronger or more confident. Love you Babe!

Aiden is still awake. Sucking away on his passy. Keeps looking around and just observing things. Seems like he's finally realizing there's things going on around him. Just kicked his legs up. He's wrapped like a burrito so the whole wrap lifted up. It was cute.

I'm excited! My baby's comin' home soon! Don't have a date yet but I can't wait!
