12/13 Mom's turn

Dad is trying to catch up on some work today so Mom thought she would try to give this a go.

Mom went to see Aiden during the early afternoon yesterday. It was time for her Aiden fix. Mom got a kick out of the nurse's comment when she arrived..."Aiden is just so freaking cute." I might be a little predjudiced, but couldn't put it better myself.

His nurse reported only 1 brady for her. There are doctor's orders to remove the monitor for his oxygen saturation. The nurse wasn't comfortable in doing so since he was still having the bradys.

It was feeding time when Mom arrived. He is currently taking 37 mL. He only drank 12 mL for before tuckering out. So the rest went by way of feeding tube.

Both Mom and Dad returned in the evening after shift change. His nurse thought we could give him a bath later after feeding. He is just a little bobble head so this thought really makes me nervous. After all, it's been 14 years since I had a baby to bathe. Hope it is just like riding a bike....

Dad tried the feeding this time, he was tired after about 15 mL. So once again the milk was feeding tube bound. Afterward, Mom held Aiden and within about 25 minutes of feeding, he had another brady. This time required nurse involvement. His heart rate dropped to 53. It was the lowest Dad or I had seen. After repositioning and stimulation from the nurses he brought his heart rate back up. To say we were scared, doesn't begin to cover it. Mom was done holding him after that. We were commended by the nurses on how quickly we "released" him to them and let them do their job. He had 2 more "quick" bradys within the next hour. Nothing near the one prior.

The doctors came by to make their rounds. His nurse explained about Aiden's activities. Once again Aiden makes the docs scratch their heads and say "hmmm." Normally the oxygen saturations would drop with the bradys. Makes sense - heart rate drops so would oxygen levels. Not our little one. Oxygen levels stay high.

We opted to not give him a bath last night to avoid stressing him out. The nurse thought it was a good idea and was not even going to wake him for feedings.

Earlier in the evening, his dr. that saw him on day 1 popped in to say hi. He asked us how the little "miracle baby" was doing. I truly believe Aiden is just that, a miracle. He isn't just our miracle. He has touched so many people, Dad said he is a "community baby." How true. He is a testimony to the power of prayer. All you have to do is ask HIM and HE will answer. It may not be the way you want or in your time frame, but HE does answer. I, for one, am thankful God was so speedy in his response this time.

Matthew 21:22
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
