Baby Aiden, hours 3-24

Baby Aiden lies almost motionless, helpless. Tubes, wires, fluids everywhere.

Approx. 155cc of fluid was removed during the first 24 hrs. Rough math is 30cc = 1 oz. Aiden lost about 5 oz of excess fluid from his little body. A positive event.

A pediatric cardiologist came to scan Aiden's heart. Results show a possible shift of the tricuspid valve? during development. The valve appears to be leaking or allowing some backflow of fluids.

Aiden's lungs look well given the circumstances.

Aiden grips his mom and dad's fingers but moves little except to stretch or flinch.

The first introduction to Baby Aiden in NICU was tough but comforting. He's alive. That's encouraging. I'll take it. As we left the NICU, I turned to him one last time. He opened his eyes. He saw that he was not alone. I saw his strength and determination.

His body looks better with the fluid loss. Skin well developed but thin.

Ventilator working well.

The risk is real. The hope is strong. Everything has been a blessing.

My belief: My son was strong enough to cause my wife pain in a call for help. He reached out to us and we responded. The doctors took notice and responded. My son asked for a fighting chance and a fighting chance is what he has. We are learning more about ourselves, our friends, our families, and our faith in record time. We are blessed with this opportunity! Now we seize every moment not knowing what the next will bring.

Baby Aiden's mom remains strong.
