11/20/2009 - A.M. Report

Time: 11:33 a.m.

Nothing new right now.

Aiden's mom went to NICU but was turned away because doctors were making rounds. Aiden's dad arrived a little later and tried to sneak into NICU during rounds, got in but not far before being turned around.

Waiting on cardiologist to show up to discuss heart situation and strategy.

Completing birth certificate information today and working on discharge details for Saturday.

Aiden's mom is doing great! Great spirits! Great meds!!!

Just met with cardiologist...

Doing another echocardiogram today.

Tricuspid valve is displaced but not severely displaced - good news! However, fluid buildup/backup through the tricuspid valve is severe. Short version is the sysmptoms are a combination of Epstein Anomoly and displaced tricuspid valve but none of the symptoms can be directly related to the hydrops because the severity of each is below the norm for each conditon.

Overall, the heart condition alone is not expected to require surgery. As excess fluids decrease, lungs open and other organs strengthen, the cardiac risk should diminish.

The cause of the hydrops is unclear but a combination of a displaced tricuspid valve and Epstein Anomoly are definitely contributors. This is what is known so far.

This is great news!
