Just got back from spending time with Aiden. He opened his eyes when spoken to and he stretches and moves more when he hears our voices.
Got more details on the delivery...Aiden's 1 minute APGAR was a 2; 5 minute was a 3; and 10 minute was a 6. This corrects an earlier report. The nurse pulled the chart to give me more accurate information.
Aiden was resuscitated when delivered. No chest compressions but a manual ventiliator (thing that covers his mouth/face and they squeeze the balloon thing to push oxygen into his lungs). The RN said this was probably because of too much fluid pressure on his lungs. He just needed some help.
Current weight is down to 4lbs 14 oz. Looking better, smaller, but better.
Spoke to another ARPN. Stated that Aiden is likely to be in for several weeks and that premi's at 32 weeks can stay up to several months depending on circumstances. His circumstances are unique and not fully known.
Before we left, another baby in NICU passed.
A sad reminder of just how quickly things can change. Keep this family in your prayers.
