12/21/09

Aiden has packed on a little more weight. He is now 4lbs and 12 oz. Dad stayed home last night with sissy. Both were feeling a little puny, so they thought it was best to stay away. Mom went solo and found Aiden wide awake happily sucking on his vanilla scented binky.

The nurse practioner called with Aiden's latest update. Mom loves it when she calls, because she always seems to have good news. She let us know that Aiden decided he wasn't going to have the doctors tell him when he was going to go without the feeding tube. He made that judgement call on his own and pulled out his feeding tube...again. The night nurse decided to go ahead and leave it out. He is officially taking all feeds by mouth! A fantastic milestone!! He is now up to 42 mLs.

One change from the last blog. We were truly hoping Aiden was going to come home for Christmas. It could possibly happen, however after Christmas seems more likely. Aiden is still needing outside stimulation for some of his bradycardias. He often will bring his heart rate up on his own, but there is still a time or 2 that he needs some help. He will need to go 72 hours without any outside stimulation in order to come home. Even though we are a little disappointed, we know this is the best thing for our little man.

  1. Hi guys,

I had to get a big kick about Aiden's vanilla scented (I do believe their flavored as well) binky. Allison absolutely LOVED them. So, when we brought her home, we made sure we had a few extras. Well, there was a time they looked like they were being chewed on. We couldn't figure THAT one out because, well, obviously, Allison wasn't doing the chewing. Then, we caught our cat, Brutus in the basinette with the binky. Mystery solved. So, I guess you need to keep the vanillaed binkys away from the dogs. Because they will probably love them as well as our cat, Allison and Aiden does.

Sorry about the little disappointment with the big possibility of Aiden not being home by Christmas, but, as you said on your post, you have to do what is best for the little man. It will happen though.

    Take care,

    Aunt Louise

P.S. Give Aiden a kiss for me.
