Aiden's mom said she never expected us to be here (in this position). My response, "Me too, but I'm glad we are!"
All previous ultrasounds, exams, readings, etc. revealed a very normal and healthy pregnancy. This is something that a higher power has chosen to place along our life path. We are thankful for the opportunity before us.
We are having this experience because a number of people made the right choices at the right time. We would not be experiencing these hopes and fears if it were not for the swift, responsive actions of trusted professionals whom we entrusted with our care and that of Baby Aiden. If these professionals had not responded and performed the way they have, Aiden would have terminated.
Our Thanks
To Celebration Hostpital - Celebration, Florida:
All nurses, response teams, support personnel, and transport coordinators.
Special thanks to our OB/GYN doctor for rapid review of ultrasound dictation and swift response.
Special thanks to the over-worked young lady who took the time to do a very thorough ultrasound that has saved Baby Aiden's life.
To Florida Hospital South - Orlando, Florida:
All nurses, tending physicians, support personnel, and others.
Special thanks to the night shift nurse (pre-delivery) for being so attentive, for providing excellent care, and for being yourself. You helped make the best of a bad situation. You are simply amazing.
Special thanks to the anesthesiologist during delivery. The attention and extra care provided was generous and kind. You went out of your way to locate Aiden's mom at the end of your shift and are truly a blessing in all of this.
To all the doctors and specialists, the NICU trauma team, NICU nurses, and all others we've interacted with or that have been involved behind the scenes.
To family, friends, employers:
Words cannot begin to express our gratitude. The prayers, encouragement, and all expressions of interest and support are overwhelming. You are the best!
For readers:
Please remember Celebration Hospital and Florida Hospital South. Their doctors and staff are professional and the best around. The quality of care at every level, the facilities, the communication, the response, experience, and wisdom are first class. Remember the NICU teams. They are life savers every day. You can't appreciate so many people at so many levels until you experience a need for any one of them. We've needed them all.
