11/28 - a.m. update

Aiden continues to do exceptionally well.

Doctors did an ultrasound of his brain Wednesday afternoon, results came back normal.

Weight is down to 3 lbs 6 oz.

Normal feedings were delayed because the nutritionists were off for Thanksgiving. Had his first normal bottle nipple feeding Friday evening. 3 ml of special formula. Did well for his first time. The nurse was surprised to learn that his ventilator was removed on Wed night and that he's already been ordered for normal feedings. Said that he must be doing extremely well because she didn't see this happen this quickly very often.

Aiden's brain is just now wrapping up the suck, swallow, breathe connection which normally comes at about 34 wks. Another week or so and he should be a sucking machine. Nurse stated they refer to them as "wimpy white boys" because they tend to suck slow. Aiden's grandpa quickly defended Aiden saying he was simply savoring the moment and knew exactly what he was doing.

Will post more pics and video in seperate posts.

Brandon and Mikayla return from Indiana this afternoon and will get to see Aiden on the way home. With any luck, they'll get to hold him for their first time.

Thanks to our family and friends who have come out to meet Aiden. We hope he inspires you and provides a source of strength and hope.

Thanks to cousin Brian's wife, Becka, for staying at the hotel with her sick child over Thanksgiving so we could visit with our family for dinner. She didn't want us exposed to any germs that we could possibly take back to Aiden. Very considerate. Much appreciated. Looking forward to meeting you soon. Thanks to grandpa and aunt Bev for not holding Aiden after being around the sick kids over Thanksgiving week. Every effort to keep Aiden healthy is needed.

Friday's day nurse said there was some chatter about possible orders for Aiden to be moved to level 2 NICU. Stated that she had only experienced 1 survivor in her experience and that Aiden is certainly outperforming and progressing at an amazing pace.

Aiden's dad is thinking that by Monday or Tuesday Aiden will be level 2 NICU. We'll see....
